Trengothal Barn is a self-catering holiday cottage, so you need to bring your foodstuffs with you!
The nearest supermarkets are in Penzance where we have a Sainsbury’s, Tescos, Morrisons, Lidl and Aldi. The Co-Op at St Just opens til 10:00pm and the local stores (listed below) close earlier at 7:30pm or 8:00pm.
We have two local shops which offer a wide range of everyday essentials, including top-up grocery items, fresh produce including bread, eggs, milk and cakes, food to go, confectionery, beers, wines and spirits….
Londis shop, St Buryan
Margaret and her team run an excellent shop, a veritable Aladin’s Cave of groceries. During lockdown they worked tirelessly to serve the community, delivering boxes all around the local area. They are very deserving of your support. As the saying goes, “Use it, or lose it” – and it would be a mighty shame if this shop were ever to close its doors!

Bosavern Community Farm Shop
Bosavern Community Farm is situated on the outskirts of St Just. Originally, it was owned by the council, but, when they put it up for sale about 15 years ago, the local community rallied together. With the help from Lottery money, the community bought the farm and now run it as not-for-profit social enterprise. It comprises 36 acres of land with 7 acres under cultivation (with a new field about to be cultivated by local allotment holders) and some for hay. It has 6 poly tunnels, a fruit cage and raised beds.
The farm grows fresh vegetables using organic principles according to the Wholesome Food Association guidelines. It has several beehives producing Cornish Black Bee honey and about 320 free-ranging chickens (for the sale of eggs).
Our farm shop sells their fresh vegetables, herbs, salad leaves and eggs, as well as lots of local produce such as bread, milk, cheeses, jams, chutney, honey and organic dried goods such as pasta, rice, lentils and flour.
They also deliver a weekly veg box scheme, and sell their produce in the Sennen Farmers’ market and to nearby pubs, cafés and restaurants.

I loved volunteering at the farm!
I think my favourite job was to collect the eggs and to look after the free range chickens!
Time spent with the girls was so peaceful and relaxing!
I was a bit frightened of being pecked at first. But once you realise it’s like being tapped by a cotton bud, everything is very chilled in there!
