Welcome to our slice of Cornish heaven! We hope all our guests will not only make the most of all that the far, far west of Cornwall has to offer, but be able to return home each day to the wonderful peace and tranquility of Trengothal and relax in our beautifully landscaped garden.
In fact, you might end up just staying put some days. Just relax in our beautifully landscaped gardens, listening to the swallows and slowing the pace of your life to the natural rhythm of the farm.
A short video of a peaceful June evening at Trengothal. Taken from the patio and looking down the valley across the farm’s fields and the lovely Jersey herd.
Courtyard
You arrive at the hamlet and farm of Trengothal via an un-made, private track. Trengothal Barn is the first courtyard you come to on the left-hand side. It faces due south and looks out over the farm’s fields and down the Penberth valley.
The track is a cul-de-sac. So there is no passing traffic, just the residents of the seven dwellings here, and, of course, the herd of Jersey cows passing by on their way to the milking parlour!
Parking
There is free, private parking for two cars in the courtyard at Trengothal Barn. But don’t forget to close the gate lest the cows wander in behind you!
Landscaped Garden
Guests have the shared use of our beautifully landscaped garden at Trengothal. Caleb is a trained horticulturalist. He had his own Landscape Design & Construction business in the New Forest before we came to Cornwall. The garden has a large lawn area surrounded by deep borders and a bank of wind-break trees and shrubs. There are traditional teak loungers, outdoor bean bags, rugs and cushions to lie on.
In addition, there is a front lawn where we set up the badminton net. It’s always a fun game with a rather undefined court area and dubious rules! Scattered around the site are various other benches and seating areas. So you can always find the sunny spots, the shady spots and the sheltered spots.

For the story of how the garden was designed and landscaped by Caleb and how it has grown and transformed the space, read ourJournal Blog on The Garden at Trengothal.

Private Patio
Your private patio area looks south across the fields. There is a picnic style bench and a BBQ. Mind the cows don’t lean over and nibble your salad!
